Down and Across || BESummer

Hey everyone! It’s June and so, it’s time for Book Ending Summer. I’m glad to tell you all that I am participating in this wonderful event, and so without further ado, here is my first Book Ending Summer Post.

This post is part of Bookending Summer 2019, which is organized by Sam & Clo! This prompt, “Down and Acrostic,” went live on July 21st and is hosted by the amazing Isabelle @BookwyrmBites.

Pick a summer-themed word (ex: beach, fireworks, heatwave, barbecue, vacation) or the title of a book with summer vibes. Write it vertically, then try to fill in titles that start with each letter (you can omit determiners like “the” and “a”). For example, if your first book is Radiance, then you might have [The] Raven Boys, Anna Undreaming, Darius the Great Is Not Okay, and so on.

Difficult mode: Use only books that fit a theme, such as “three-word titles” or “YA contemporary” or “squad goals.”

Like Isabelle, I decide to choose a book with a summery title and summery themes. The book I chose is Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson.

So, for the difficulty level theme, I chose one-word titles and it really proved to be very hard. Also, The and A don’t count because if they did, I’d never have been able to finish this list!

  1. The Kiera Cass books are taking me back 😂 so is the mention of Eragon – I remember I read the third book in three or something days and confused all my classmates when I came in with a new thick book 😂
    Heartless!! I love that book!

    1. Kiera Cass seems like a lifetime ago sometimes – her books were ‘it’ in like 2015-16 and just wow.
      Really? Wow. I only ever read Eragon but I still hope to read that series someday in the future

      1. I think I might go back and read her books again, just to feel those memories 😁 Eragon was my top read for a while – big world building and language creation. It’s definitely a good book if you’re a fan of heavy world building and a lot of focusing on the text 😂

  2. Again this is one of my fave BE posts to ever exist, and I’m so glad you did it! I did read some of Eragon a long time ago, but I have Champion and The Martian on my tbr, they both sound so gooooood (well so does every Marie Lu book to be fair lol)

    1. I read Eragon quite a while ago as well and never ended up reading its sequels unfortunately!
      And true that about Marie Lu – I mean how does she come up with all these interesting plots?
