10 books I want to read this year

Hello, as bookworms we have way too many books we want to read at any time and so do I but here is my priority TBR for the rest of the rest! Well, technically I do have some sequels I really want to read as well such as Our Violent Ends, Jade Legacy and The Bronzed Beasts but here are some backlist books I’ve bene meaning to get to since forever and am desperately hoping to get to this year!

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles: I have heard so much about this book and it sounds so nice and I own a physical copy of it too so I really hope to get to it! It also has so many elements I love like secret societies and magical competitions and I really can’t wait to read it.

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas: I’ve been wanting to read this book ever since it was released and now that I finally have a physical copy of it and it’s autumn again, the perfect time to read this, I really really hope to read it now!

These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever: Another book that is perfect for autumn which has been on my TBR for quite some time and I just ordered myself a copy so I can hopefully read it as soon as it arrives! I think it’ll be a new favourite so I couldn’t be more excited!

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee: I’ve been putting off reading this for a while now because I know it’s going to be a hard read but I do want to read it and hopefully his year.

We Hunt The Flame by Hafsah Faizal: Okay seriously, I better read this book before this year ends. A lot of people have told em how amazing ti is and I just can not wait to get absorbed into another perfect fantasy world and fall in love with it and have my heart break all over again but somehow, I just haven’t managed to get to it yet. I’m going to try really hard to make time for it before the end of this year tho!

If We Were Villains by M. L. Rio: Yes, it’s going to be dark academia fall and this is one of the most popular dark aaemia books out there and can you believe I haven’t read it? Anyway I bought the new signed anniversary version and I am hoping to read it as soon as it arrives which should be the first week of October?

Legend by Marie Lu: Marie Lu is so famous and I’ve heard about her books everywhere and from everyone and I haven’t read any of them, so I bought her first series and hopefully I can pick it up soon and see what all the hype is about.

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson: Okay, again, I’m a fantasy buff but somehow I have never ever read anything by Brandson Sanderson so all thanks to my friend who is a big fan of him and especially this trilogy

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson: This book is one I’ve heard about everywhere and it’s always nothing but praises so count me in, I think the series is complete as well so it’s the perfect time to get around to it and read it all and see why everyone else loves it so much!

Loveless by Alice Oseman: Of course I want to read the Alice Oseman book I own, who do you think I am? I’ve also not read any of Alice’s books except Heartstopper which I absolutely adore so I couldn’t be more excited to get around to reading this!

So those are the books I want to read before the end of the year! Have you read these? What did you think fo them? What are some books you want to read before the end of the year? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. The only book I’ve read out of this selection is A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and I actually didn’t like it that much. I think it started off incredibly strong but didn’t work for me the more I read it.

  3. omg almost all of these are on my TBR and I haven’t read any of them yet either haha! I did actually read half of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and then a depressive episode/reading slump hit so I’ve put it aside again for now. I definitely want to read Raybearer this year, it’s both on my 21 for 2021 list (none of which I’ve read yet, I am cursed) and I put it on my summer tbr lol.

  4. i have read both these violent delights and if we were villains which are two dark academia books and i can tell you that if we were villains is AMAZING! i really hope you love it! as for these violent delights, to be 100% honest, i still don’t know what i’ve read, hahah. this book left me so confused! i could understand *what* was happening, but i couldn’t understand *why* that was happening and what was the intention of the author with this story. if you pick it up, def let me know your thoughts, i think it’s a pretty interesting book to discuss with others!
