August Wrap Up

Hello everyone! Another month has passed and we’re going into my birthday month, September! I turn 19 this year and it feels so weird since 19 is such a middle year which feels so weird and I don’t know how it is going to be but I hope it is a good one!

POSTS FROM AROUND THE BLOGOSPHERE

Malka @PaperProcrastinators shares what she thinks makes us love tropes and I agree!

May @ForeverandEverly talks about some of her most disappointing reads of the year so far and I loved reading through her reasons as to why she didn’t enjoy them. I also took some books off of my TBR so that’s great as well!

Sumedha @The WordyHabitat shared 8 blog maintenance tasks to do regularly and it was such a useful post!

Marie @DrizzlesandHurricanes shared some books with little or no romance to read and I can’t wait to check them out!

WHAT I DID IN AUGUST

August was a long long month and now that we are at the end of it, I am exhausted and want a month long vacation, but instead I have college starting back up.

I didn’t really have much going on in August to be honest but it still felt like I had a lot to do with my beta reads and preparing for college and trying to be very active on Instagram and grow my platform. It was fun, but also kind of burnt me out and there was a time when I really wanted to just take a break but I’m glad I didn’t because it’s just so hard to get back.

I also stayed at my grandparent’s place for a week and had a lot of fun with them! I also met a new friend from college and had so much fun talking to her and I’m glad I got to see her. I also saw my cousin in the beginning of the month and we had a great lunch, so yeah I’m feeling really good about that.

UPDATE ON MY AUGUST GOALS

  • Finish 2 beta reads
Yep, I did this! One of them was paid too and I am so happy I did it!
  • Catch up on reviews
    HAHAHA you thought.
  • Read 3 ARCs
So I read 2 books started 2 more. I did not finish this but I’m still okay with my progress because I’m just not too good with reading on my kindle.
  • Publish 5 blog posts
I did do this and I’m so proud of myself for dong it since I didn’t have much inspiration for blogging for a part of the month. I also have started on some blog posts for next month and I’m very happy about that since I won’t have that much time with college starting again.
  • Post 4 times a week on Instagram
Meh, I kinda did it but also not but I tried at least?

PLANS FOR SEPTEMBER

I don’t really have much planned for September because college starts again and I intend to focus on that. I’m taking 5 classes this semester and it’s going to be busy and I’m a little scared as to how I will manage it all, so I am just going to try to be focused and well prepared and hope that it all goes okay, we’ll see.

Also it’s my birthday on the 16th of September and I think I’ll have a small dinner with 5 friends or just go out for dinner with my family. I’m turning 19 this year and I just feel so old but I hope it’ll be a good birthday!

I’m also really hoping to go for a small trip at the end of the month and I hope it works out! It’ll be with a few friends and it’s going to be at a hill station so it’ll be nice and cool and hopefully if everything is okay, we get to go and I am excited!

  • Stay up to date with college things
  • Catch up on reviews (or rather, review 4 books since that seems kind of possible)
  • Read 3 ARCs
  • Publish 5 blog posts
  • Post 3 times a week on Instagram

  1. Advanced happy birthday, Jayati! Sorry to hear that your August wasn’t great, and Sept is going to be ~something~ with all those classes, but you can do it! Hope you have a great month ❤

    P. S. thanks for including my post 😀

  2. Ok I really need to read She Who Became the Sun before the year is out 😂 I do love grey characters. 19 was definitely a ‘middle year’ for me too! A lot of my old classmates went to university immediately after high school and I didn’t, so that felt a bit weird.
I only read 2 books last month but that’s ok! My Goodreads challenge says I’m on track 😂

    1. YESS I hope you enjoy it!
Ahh yeah I’m going to uni but it’s online so it’s been really weird tbh
Ohh yes 2 books is great and woo for being on track!

      1. I really hope I will! I’ve done some courses online and that made me realise I actually prefer online learning. But I know it’s not for everyone.
Like literally a DAY after I saw I was on track it went to 1 book behind😅

  3. Awe, too bad August was such a demanding month, but I hope you still get to enjoy college and your classes in September without feeling too burnt out! I’m currently reading The Atlas Six and having a great time with it 🙂 Makes me happy to know you rated it so high, even as a reread.

  5. I’ve been seeing The Atlas Six around quite a bit lately. I have no idea what it’s about, but all the reviews have been raving about it. I think I’m going to go check it out now!

Also, congrats on finishing those beta reads! That’s so exciting!!

  6. September being the start of college is truly a crime. Plus, taking 5 courses? 😳 I’m only taking 3 this semester, and I’m already overwhelmed!

I’m also really impressed with how on track you are with your goals! Even if you didn’t manage to hit all of them, you still made so much progress towards each goal, and I find that really impressive! I’m terrible at sticking to goals!

Also, thank you so much for mentioning my post, Jayati! It’s always so surreal to me when I get a pingback that someone mentioned my post somewhere! It’s a very big part of what makes me keep blogging, since I love that feeling of being part of such a warm, caring, supportive blogging community!

    I hope you’re having a fantastic September!
