Hey everyone! Today I’m back with the review for an amazing book I enjoyed a lot! It just came out last week and I think you should all give it a look!

If the murderer you’re tracking is a vampire, then you want a vampire detective. Just maybe not this one.

It’s not that Jack Valentine is bad at her job. The youngest member of Oxford’s Seekers has an impressive track record, but she also has an impressive grudge against the local baron, Killian Drake.
When a human turns up dead on May Morning, she’s determined to pin the murder on Drake. The problem is that none of the evidence points to him. Instead, it leads Jack into a web of conspiracy involving the most powerful people in the country, people to whom Jack has no access. But she knows someone who does.
To get to the truth, Jack will have to partner up with her worst enemy. As long as she can keep her cool, Drake will point her to the ringleaders, she’ll find the murderer and no one else will have to die.
Body bags on standby.

May Day is the first book in Josie Jaffrey’s Seekers series, an urban fantasy series set in Oxford, England.

This book was packed with action, mystery, adventure and romance which made it a fun and interesting read. It had a thick plot which forced it to be a little slow paced, which I usually don’t like but the author made it work!

The protagonist, Jack Valentine was a unique character and I was thoroughly fascinated by her. As we slowly got to learn more about her, I fell in love with her. She’s a little rash and aggressive and very outspoken which gets her into trouble a lot of the times. She was really fun to read about, and a very different character as compared to most.

The romance was also on-point. I loved both the romantic interests though I do clearly prefer Killian Drake and would die for him. Love triangles are difficult business to manage but this book pulled it off well, with the hate and love between Killian and Jack and magnetic pull towards the doctor.

The main plot, which was surrounding the investigation was also really interesting. It was mysterious and thrilling and I was curious to know more and hence, read more! I am also excited to see how the plot moves forward in the next book because the end of this book was crazy! I can not wait to read the next book!

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this book at every turn and had a great time reading it!
You’ll love this book if you like Fantasy, especially Vampires and a little mystery.

  1. YESSS! I absolutely adore May Day and basically all of the author’s other works. Jack is definitely one heck of a character, isn’t she? I love her badass personality so much. I also agree with you that the concept of a love triangle was done really well in this book as it can be a hit or miss for most. AND KILLIAN OH GOSH, thinking about the ending of this reminds me how badly I need the next book. I am very happy you enjoyed this as well. Loved your review ❤️❤️❤️
