Mid-Year Reading Stats Check -In

Hey everyone! It’s June and now that we’re halfway through the year I decided it would be a good time to drop in and check in on how I have doing reading-wise in a summarised way using a shit load of charts because it’s fun!

BOOKS READ THIS YEAR

Total: 32 books

BOOKS SPREAD OVERTIME:

This line chart accurately depicts how many books I read each month and I think it is safe to say that I’m doing well with my reading expect when it took a fall during my slump in May. My book reading rate is about 5.8 books per month and according to it, I will be able to read about 70 books this year which is more than my Goodreads goal – 50 books.

PAGES READ OVERTIME:

As we can see, I read the most pages in April which is also the month when I read the most books – 10.

Rounding it off, I have read about 13,000 pages in this year which rounds of to me reading about 75 pages per day and I think that is an amazing overall average!

BOOKS AS PER RATING:

It can be clearly seen that I have a tendency to give a lot of books 5 stars and I gravitate to rating books higher usually…

Looking at this graph also makes me realise that I have had a great reading year with about 75%+ books falling in the 4-star or 5-star category!

BOOKS AS PER FORMAT:

There is clearly a majority in Physical books and I expected it since I just started listening to audiobooks this year and bought a Kindle for the first time this year as well but I just have to say how impressed I am that even though these are new developments in my reading, I seem to have taken to them fondly and have adapted faster than I thought I would be able to!

BOOKS AS PER LENGTH:

Ah, I have definitely stayed in the middle 300-400 range the most but I am happy to see that there are some lengthier titles also making an appearance over here! I plan to read more of longer books such as The Priory of the Orange Tree so I hope the number of <700 page books increase by the end of the year!

BOOKS AS PER PUBLICATION YEAR

Most books I read this year were published either this year or last year and I expected as much but I hope I can read some more classics and make my reading more diverse soon!

So, that was a compilation of my reading stats until now. How has your reading been going? How many books have you read this year? Are you achieving what you had planned to at the beginning of the year? Tell me in the comments below!

  1. for me May is always a tough month, with the pre-midyear drop in motivation *and* final exams / projects, but at least your June has gone better and you’re on track to reach your reading goal! and wow, just look at all those 4 and 5 star ratings, it definitely looks like you’ve been having a great reading year so far which is awesome. and I’ve been generally loving all these midyear updates, so much data and pretty graphs and numbers to compare!

I’ve somehow read 119 books out of my 150 goal (a decent number of which are novellas / graphic novels / manga!), but I don’t think I’ll increase it this year – if I meet it early, I’ll probably just switch to focusing on my other challenges and generally reading diversely and getting through my backlist TBR 🤔 still, I can’t believe we’re already halfway through 2019!

    1. Oof, final exams really suck!
I end up dropping to one book or two and I feel sucky overall :-/

119?! *takes a moment to breathe*
Yeah that makes a lot of sense and all the best!
