MY ONE YEAR BLOGVERSARY!

Hey everyone! I can’t believe it is already April 2019 and that it has been one entire year since I started this blog!

I can finally say that this little blog is a year old and that I am a creator of something that’s lasting and amazing!

To celebrate this blogversay, I have decided to do a Q&A session and I had asked you all for questions – so here we go:

What’s your favourite location you’ve ever travelled to?

I think the place I loved the most was London, United Kingdom. I have been there twice – once with my school for an exchange programme when I was 13 and once with my family when I was 14 and a half years old.
Both the times, I had a lot of fun and made a lot of memories that I cherish up to this day. Honestly, I think those two were my favourite vacations ever!

Do you have a bookish OTP?

Yeah, there are so many to choose from so I’ll list a few of them here!

Feyre and Rhysand from ACOTAR
Aelin and Rowan from Throne of Glass
Percy and Annabeth from PJO
Stella and Michael from The Kiss Quotient
Penny and Sam from Emergency Contact
Anna and St. Clair from Anna and the French Kiss
Magnus and Alec from The Mortal Instruments

If you could give your just-starting-out-blogging self one piece of advice, what would it be?

I think it would be to go and join Discord and make friends. Honestly, Discord has become such a safe haven for me now and I can only imagine the difference it would have made to have had it in my life from last year!

What blog post(s) are you most proud of?

Ahh, This is such a hard question! I think it’s most of my discussion posts since I love writing them…

So, I’ll list my top 3 posts:
1. Bibliophile’s needs
2. Types of Book Endings
3. Getting out of a Reading Slump

Has blogging changed the way you read/think about books?

I’d have to say yes. Before, reading was more of a passive process for me but now I have a lot of thoughts about each thing that happens in the book and I think all this changed because of reviewing the books.

To be honest, I love this change because it makes the book feel more intense and alive then it felt before.

What is your favourite thing to come from blogging?

It is definitely all the amazing friends I have made in the bookish community. I love them all to bits and they are what makes this all an overall amazing experience!

Which book will you always deny you’ve read?

If I answer this question won’t I be admitting to having read it?
But well, sometimes I think we all need to admit things so here it is…

After by Anna Todd

Honestly, I do not know why I ever read it… It was probably because it was the it thing at my school and you had to read it to be cool. So, I did read about all the toxic relationship and came to a consensus that it was all shit.

Did you face any particular challenges as a young blogger?

I don’t really think so… Honestly, I feel a little weird sometimes and distant some ways but that’s not because of how anyone else acts.

Thankfully, the bookish community is very accepting and treats even those younger to them by a huge amount of respect and values their opinion.

What is your inspiration for the blog? Why did you start it?

I love books and I wanted a platform to share my thoughts on them, to find other people who loved to read as much as I did and that’s what really motivated me to start my blog.
That and the amount of excess time I had in my hands since I didn’t have school.

Which blog posts are your favourite to write?

I love to write discussion posts the most since I have a lot of views on everything!

I also love writing book reviews when I have very strong feelings about a book.

And that were all the questions!

I want to end by thanking all of you who are here and who have supported me in this incredible journey! I am so excited to move forward finally completing one year and moving into my second one.

It feels surreal and I can’t believe it. I just know that I couldn’t have done it without you all. You all were here, liking and commenting on my posts, or even viewing them making me feel loved and happy. You all are the reason my blog has come so far and I just want to thank you all!

I love you all.

So, why don’t you tell me more about yourself in the comments below? Who are your OTPs? What type of posts do you like to write? And which one of your posts is your favourite? I’d love to read them!

  1. Omg, congratulations on a whole year!!! 🍾🎉 I love this post and getting to learn more about you 💕 Ahhh I’m so jealous that you’ve been to the UK, I’ve always wanted to go! What did you do there? What was it like being an exchange student?? YES, Magnus and Alec are honestly the cutest 😍 Ok, I low key feel stupid for this, but what’s discord?? And how does one join it? 🙃 But ahhh yes, this community has also been my favourite thing about blogging so far! Everyone is just so nice and genuinely interested in what everyone else has to say and in starting up conversations and it’s just been so amazing!

As for me, well I have too many OTPs to list them all, but my all time favourite is Ronan and Adam from The Raven Cycle. So far I’ve only really posted tags on my blog, because I haven’t been reading much this year so haven’t really had anything to review (whoops 🙃), but my favourite post I’ve written so far is probably this one: https://lauraherondale.wordpress.com/2019/03/26/top-ten-tuesday-books-and-songs/

But yeah, congrats again! Hopefully you’ll have another amazing year of blogging ahead of you, and I can’t wait to see what else you post 😊

    1. Thank you so much!
Ah, I went to a loty of places there- I went to Harry Potter Studios, ofc and took a tour of the city! We also went to the Cadbury Factory and to Lego Land – both of which were a lot of fun! We also ended up visiting Edinburgh in scotland!
Being an exchange student was amazing and I got to make new friends there, so yay!

Haha, that’s okay! I only discovered Discord in January! It is this social media, I guess which has lots of groups (supposed to be about gaming) but well, we book bloggers have made some bookish groups too!
um, you could Avilanah (http://avalinahsbooks.space) about joining the New Bloggers group since I see that you’re pretty new!

Haha, I know… There are too many to choose from! I haven’ty read Raven Cycle yet but since you love Ronan and Adam I guess I’ll just have to pick it up!
Aw, thanks love! I can’t wait to see your blog either! xx

      1. Ahhhh omg that must’ve been so fun! I haven’t been to the Cadbury Factory in the UK, but I’ve been to one in Australia cuz my dad works for Cadbury, and omg. So. Much. Chocolate. I was a kid at the time, and I basically felt like I’d died and gone to heaven 😆 Also ahhh I’d love to go to Edinburgh, that must’ve been amazing! Damn, I really wish my school had an exchange student program now 😂

Ohhhhh ok. Lmao, why am I not surprised that us book bloggers have low key tried to take over a gaming social media? 😂😂😂 But it sounds like a really cool new place to meet people, so I’ll give it a shot 😊

Yes ikr! I could honestly write a book about all my OTPs 😆 But yessss, definitely pick up the Raven Cycle. Honestly, just all the relationships (romantic and platonic) between the characters in that series are my favourite 😍 I’d give up my first born to be a part of their friendship group omg 🙃

      2. Ah, your dad works for Cadbury?!
        Does that mean free chocolate?
        Can I work for Cadbury?
And OMG yes, so much chocolate and the free tastings and wooo!
Ah, it doesn’t? Damn, that sucks. Our school has some kind of exchange every year but I only went for one!

        haah lol, I know!
Waiting to see you there and chat with you!

        Haha, me too!
And ok, I will as soon as I can buy more books bc I’m flooded now but it’s def on the top of my to-buy list now!
Oh, really? Wow it sounds serious and something I need to know immediately.
        *puts it on my wishlist*

      3. Ahahah yep! Well, technically he works for Mondelez, which is the company that owns Cadbury, but still.
Free chocolate is kind of complicated, cuz he does have the option to bring it home all the time, but he doesn’t cuz we’d all die of heart attacks lmao. But I do have a bunch of childhood memories of going into dad’s office and him just shoving us in this storage cupboard where they kept leftover chocolate or whatever that was free to take because he needed to distract us while he focused. And so while he went and worked on whatever quick thing he needed to take care of while we were there, my brothers and I would just gorge ourselves on chocolate. It was INSANE. Sadly, dad very very rarely took us to his office, so it wasn’t a common occurrence. But those are definitely my best childhood memories xD
And yeah, most of the schools I’ve been to are international schools, so having an exchange program isn’t something would have benefited most kids cuz everyone was constantly moving countries anyway? But I still think it would have been super fun to get to go live with new people for a few weeks or whatever and get to explore a new country with the locals.

Yes yes yes, lmk when you do get around to reading the Raven cycle, cuz I’d love to hear all your thoughts!! Though I get why it might be a little while before you get to it, because TBRs are insane. Like, how does one even read all the books they want without being crushed by them first? 😂😂

      4. Aw, that’s such a nice memory! *can’t help but smile while reading about it*

Ah, that makes sense tho I’m still sad your school didn’t have any exchange programs!

Lol, thats true! My current TBR is so huge and I dont think I’m ever getting through all of it. (but are any of us ever done with their TBR anyway?)

Loved this post and all of your answers. London is a beautiful, beautiful city and I totally agree with you on blogging changing the way we read books. I really feel blogging about books has made me more open-minded and thoughtful about a lot of things!!!

  4. Yayyyy! Happy blogiversary, Jayati! And thank you for answering my question!
I’d love to go to London one day; it’s the number one city at the top of my bucket list. Even though I’ve never been to Europe, it’s one of the places in the world that I feel like I’d love and connect to well. Plus London’s weather is like my dream weather!
I am surprised you read After, by Anna Todd, but I’m glad you were still able to see all the problems on it, despise the hype. I don’t know if I have any books I don’t want to admit I’ve read; there are definitely more than some I *regret* reading, though!
Percy/Annabeth are also in my list of OTPs. I’d probably include Magnus/Alex too from the Magnus Chase series and Nina/Matthias from Six of Crows. As for my favorite posts to write, I’d say “top 5” stuff. It’s the chance I have to ramble about whatever I want, since I don’t always come up with bookish top 5’s and it’s always a fun time, hahah.
Once again, happy blogiversary! Wishing you an amazing new year! 💛

    1. Thank you so much and thank you for your questions as well! It was a pleasure answering them!
Ah, the idea of Europe just seems so Romantic to me and I am sad that I havent been anywhere but London 😦

Haha, I get that! I mean theer are so many books that I wish I could forget having have read because they just didn’t well… meet my standards of equality I guess…

Ah, I haven’t read either the Magnus Chase serties or Six of Crows duology.
I don’t think I’ll be reading Magnus Chase but I am very exzcited about Six of Crows and since my cousin is after me to read them, I will probably read it soon! I can not wait to fail in love with Nina and Matthias!

‘Top 5’ Is one of my favourites too- to write and to read because well, it’s short and fun and often makes you laugh!

      Thank you once again! ❤

  5. I’ve never been to Europe but London is at the top of my travel list, so I always love hearing about other people’s trips there and it’s awesome that you remember it so fondly! Discord has definitely made such a huge difference in my blogging journey, not least because of the all the friends I’ve been able to talk to 💕 I can relate to reading books just to fit in, I read the whole Twilight series just to understand that cultural touchstone and honestly I regret the time I spent on it 😶

congrats on your blogversary! 🎉 I’ve loved getting to know you and your bookish thoughts and ideas, and I can’t wait to see where the next year takes you.
