Hey everyone! As a book dragon, I read many books of various sizes and lengths.
Today I am sharing some of the longest books I have ever read with you all.
Short books are not very intimidating and easy to read but longer books- although they require time, they let you connect with the characters in a deep way and have a longer span during which you can connect and love the characters.
So, we often ignore long books but sometimes we can’t keep away and here I’m sharing with you all some extremely long books I’ve read in all the years I’ve been a book dragon.
Kingdom of Ash
– By Sarah J Maas

Ah, this book. I absolutely hated it and Sarah J Maas and how imperialistic and colonialist a conversation was with Aelin saying she wanted to take over other kingdoms and I just – I can’t.
The Priory of the Orange Tree
-By Samantha Shannon
- Page Count: 896
This book surprised me and had me at an edge through all of it. It was daunting to start the 800-something pages long monster of a book, especially with how it’s physical edition looks but I am glad I went through the journey because it was amazing and heart-stopping.

Winter

Winter is the end to The Lunar Chronicles. It is the retelling of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and I kid you not when I say that Marrisa Meyers has done an amazing job with this fairytale retelling. I loved it. You can check out my review here.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
-By J.K. Rowling

Once again, this is a Harry Potter book and needs no explanations. I love it and it is one of the best books out there. Although, this one is pretty sad as it is the last one and has the Battle of Hogwarts where many people die *frowns*
City of Heavenly Fire
– By Cassandra Clare
- The Mortal Instruments #6
- Page Count: 725
This book was something and well, I’m glad to see this series come to an end. I am so so done with all the incest and repitive plot points.
Empire of Storms
– By Sarah J Maas
- Throne of Glass #5
- Page Count: 704
Another SJM book and well, take from that what you will.
The Dragon Republic
– By R F Kuang
- The Poppy War #2
- Page Count: 658
This series is one of my favroutie and this book is probably my leats favourite of the three but still one of the best books I have ever read and I highly recommend it!
The Burning God
– By R F Kuang
- The Poppy War #3
- Page count: 640
oh my god, this book broke my heart. I am not and will never be over that ending.
If you haven’t yet, you need to get on with it and read this series!
The House of Hades
-By Rick Riordan
- Heroes of Olympus #4
- Page count: 597
A Rick Riordan book, finally! I love everything about this book – from the characters to the plot and the romances. It is a must read.
Illuminae
-By Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
- Illuminae Files #1
- Page count: 602

Sorry, you didn’t like the Inkheart Trilogy! I loved it, but you know it’s funny, reading this, I didn’t even realize how long most of these books were! They’re so good you just forget that they’re massive lol!

The Harry Potter books and Winter are basically the only long books I put up with and I love them so much ❤ Tbh the reason I haven't started Throne of Glass yet even though apparently the whole world has read and loves it is because I'm too intimidated by the length lol

Haha, I get what you mean. Although, you really should read Throne of Glass! It’s definitely a long series with lengthy books but it’s worth it 🙂

I’ve read most of the books in this post and I must admit I love long books. I think the longest I’ve ever read was the collection of Sherlock Holmes Volume I which has 1000+ pages. I enjoyed reading it and didn’t really care about the page number. Page number doesn’t really matter as long as you’re enjoying what you’re reading.

I have read a few of these! I often forget that Winter and City of Heavenly Fire are huge books because I flew through them! I absolutely loved both series so I was devouring the finales. I read Order of the Phoenix for the first time a month or so ago and I felt it’s length even though it was an audiobook. Mostly because I didn’t like it ;.; Ah, I loved the Inkheart trilogy as a child even though they were huge! And I read Illuminae last month and head over heels loved it. So so good.

I always thought that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows would have been my longest book. I couldn’t believe that I was actually going to read something this long. Then I read Winter by Marissa Meyer as well and I was like “pfft, this is nothing!” I can’t recall if I read anything longer since then..

I’ve read HoH and OoTP from your list. I don’t remember reading any other big book right now. But i love reading big books because they give us more time to be with them in their world❤

I was incredibly intimidated by Kingdom of Ash but I didn’t need to be because it was definitely the Throne of Glass book I’d been waiting for. It didn’t give me any of my usual ToG issues and everything weaved together so nicely! I don’t know if it is one of my favourites but it is certainly in contention to be so

I’ve never read the Throne of Glass series, but I have the first book and I’m hoping to start it this summer sometime. I hope I like it!
And OMG I just finished Illuminae and it was crazy amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that deserved 5 stars more than that one! I listened to the audiobook along with it as I read too and it was phenomenal! 😀

I love reading long books but It’s been a while that I have picked one. I think the last long book that I read was Kingdom of Ash! That was 5 months ago..omg!

I’ve read a few of these, but I think my longest reads are in the Obernewtyn series by Isobelle Carmody. The Red Queen (book 7) rocks in at 1108 pages, and The Stone Key (book 5) is 996. I didn’t realise City of Heavenly Fire was so big!! It looks so small on my shelf compared to some of the others!!

Haha, CoHF does really not look/feel that long anymore but when I read it, I remember thinking that it was so huge and that I’d take forveer to read it!

The biggest LOOKING book on my shelf is The Redemption of Althalus, so I was surprised it only had about 700 pages. They must be thick pages!! 😂

Haha, it’s funny how long books often look shorter. If I didn’t know the word count, I’d bet that the Kingdom of ash was shorter than CoHF

I am so afraid of thicc books for some reason, haha! I tend to get so intimidated by 500+ pages and de-prioritize them on my shelf, which stinks because it’s great to be in the world for a long time! ESPECIALLY if it’s a standalone!
My longest is the Illuminae Files books. PRIORY will top those books though when/if I ever read it.

Oh Gemina flew by so damn fast, hehe! Which is why I am reading Obsidio so painfully slow… I don’t want it to end!

I love those long HP books, for sure! I didn’t realize that the coming books in the “Cinder” series were that long! I think the longest books I have read are the Game of Thrones novels. One was 1100 pages. And a few Stephen King novels come that close!
