I just reread one of my favourite books, and as I have not written a review for it, so I went ahead and finally did it!
RATING: 4 STARS
A forbidden romance.
A deadly plague.
Earth’s fate hinges on one girl . . .
CINDER, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She’s reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desires of an evil queen – and a dangerous temptation.
Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth’s future.
This is not the fairytale you remember. But it’s one you won’t forget.
This book gave me the feels all over again! I love any fairy tale retelling and this one particularly is one of my favourites. Rereading it helped me remember all the little details that I had forgotten.
I loved the characters and it was easy to connect with them and like them. They were fascinating and wonderful. Cinder, I loved but who really stole my heart was Iko. The android was a really funny and cute character and took up all my attention when she was present at the scene. I will never forgive Adri for disassembling her! I hope Cinder finds Iko a new body soon so we get to see more of her!
Prince Kai will make a great Emperor I am sure. Kind and caring as he is, he will surely win the hearts of his people. He already has won their hearts though, and he won mine too when he tried to protect Cinder for the God-awful, manipulating Lunar Queen- Levana. I hope to see more of Kai.
Dr Erland is the best lunar ever, well after Cinder. He found out Cinder’s true identity i.e. she is Princess Selene. I also love him for giving her hope when she had been imprisoned and kinda helping her escape. I want him to reach Africa and find a cure for Letumosis so Queen Levana wouldn’t have any leverage.
New Beijing: That is a world I would love to visit, Being a technology freak, I would love all the port screens, net screens, cyborgs, androids, etc. It would be a wonderful place to live in, especially when you have a kind Emperor like Kai.
The only thing that was kinda annoying was how predictable everything was. I knew cinder was Princess Selene far before it was revealed. Though the way Mariss Meyer revealed it made up for it.
The ball. I loved how Emperor Kai treated Cinder and danced with her, but I also loved how Queen Levana accused him of harbouring Lunars and how it was revealed that Cinder is in fact Lunar. I loved how Kai fought to try and save her. It was cute and the best part.
