Physical Books Vs. E-books

The age-old unending discussion of whether E-books are better or Physical books? Well, let us discuss and settle the matter, for now at least.

1. Pretty Covers. Let us face facts, we all judge a book by its cover and who doesn’t like a pretty little book lying on the bookshelf? The smell of the book, and how it looks when arranged on the bookshelf does give you an immense amount of satisfaction. E-books, on the other hand, are just inside one device. You can’t touch them, or flip the pages and anticipate what is going to happen. It just is inside the device. No inner satisfaction, just the books without any feelings. A point to physical books then.

2. Cost. Let us face facts, Physical books cost 3 times as much as E-books, but then the Kindle costs a lot too. Though, it can be argued that the Kindle is a one-time investment and then you can keep buying cheap books on it and use it for 3-4 years at least. And that is about paperbacks, hardcovers cost twice as much so when you are broke, e-books do seem like a better option. Less money, yet many books. The e-books definitely win this one then.

3. Battery. Books will never die, but your e-reader/ Kindle will. It will leave you, maybe in the middle of the most important part of your book and then you will have to charge it, wait and till then, the extreme emotions that you were feeling are gone. 200w-3

This one goes to Physical books, who will be your best friend for as long as you live. They won’t leave you hanging until the author decided to end it that way.

4. Ruin. You can spill coffee or cookie crumbs on your book and then the pages will be ruined. The crumbs will stick between the pages while the coffee will leave a stain on the pages. Your e-book, however, will remain safe, unless you drop a drink and ruin the entire thing.

5. Night Reading. Let us all face it, the night is the best time to read and e-books are the best for it. You can adjust the light on your device and read comfortably well into the morning. For physical books, on the other hand, you need a lamp or some light source falling directly on it. No such drama with e-books and so they win this round too.

6. Portability. Let us say that you are going for a 2-week vacation so you will be able to read maybe 7 books? It will obviously be hard to make space for 7 books in your luggage when you are unable to cram even your clothes into it. What if you don’t want to read a particular book that you brought along with you?

Your Kindle can however just fit into your hand-carry bag and you can have even up to a 100 books on it and can choose among them. No need to be forced to read a particular book even when you don’t want to as you have options! You also can not carry a physical book to a party or to your office or in the car, they can’t be with you always. So, e-books for the win again.

7. Progress. With a physical book, you can see how far into the book you are and when an intense scene comes up, you can assure yourself that it will be resolved well by seeing how many pages are still left. E-books, on the other hand, do show you the page number but are unable to capture the exact feeling. Thus, Physical books get this point.

8. Wait. Buying an e-book will make it available on your e-reader immediately while if you order a book from the internet, you will have to wait for it to be packaged and shipped. Although, by going to the bookstore, you can get a physical copy immediately too. This one is tied up, then.

9. Health issues. E-readers will surely harm your eyes. Also, while feeling intense emotions, you can hurl a book across the room but not an e-reader as they are sensitive and will be broken beyond repair. Physical books will not be damaged by such silly little things that all of us do quite a lot of times.

It makes that a 5-5 draw for both Physical Books and E-Books. Seems like the feud between the two is never-ending. Both have their pros and cons.

I, personally like physical books better. What are your views? Tell me in the comments.

May Book Haul

The month is almost about to end, so let us take a look at all the amazing books I bought this month. I did buy quite a few this month but seems that my reading speed is not quite as fast for I couldn’t read all of them.

I bought 9 fabulous books and read only 3 of them and others from what I already had. Good that I will have enough books for June. Hopefully, I will not buy more else my ever increasing TBR pile lying on my bookshelf will never get over.

Disney Princess Sidekicks Book Tag

I was nominated by shadowriverharley to do this tag. This tag was created by thebookprincess.

So, here it is, let’s go!

Mushu from Mulan/Olaf + Sven from Frozen

The Comic Relief – Name your favourite hilarious character or your favourite comedy/funny book

My pick is Dash from Dash and Lily’s Book of dares. He made me laugh out loud during the entire book.

The Seven Dwarfs from Snow White

Favourite Group/Ensemble

Surely the group of the seven demigods of the prophecy in the heroes of Olympus series. They are funny and interesting. There is never a dull moment with them.

Pascal from Tangled

The loyal cheerleader chameleon (not a frog, Flynn Rider) – Name a book that started out one way but changed for you

I had heard a lot of good things about Under the Never Sky and liked the first 100 pages or so but then it got so boring and I had no interest to complete it. Though I did complete it, it did not come up to my expectations and I know that I will never read the further books in the series.

Meeko from Pocahontas

Pocahontas’s sly and sneaky racoon friend – Name a plot twist that you did not see coming

Definitely ACOMAF. Although I did not like Tamlin much, he loved Feyre and thought that he would be her mate. Rhysand, on the other hand, was not someone I liked a lot, though I did grow to like him as I learned about his past, I could not see him as Feyre’s mate in the beginning. Many people thought it was obvious, but well, not me.

Rajah from Aladdin / Flounder from The Little Mermaid

Gentle with their princess but protective with everyone else – Name your favourite best friend in a novel

Alec from The Mortal Instruments.

Louis from The Princess and the Frog / Sebastian from The Little Mermaid / Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs Potts, & Chip from Beauty and the Beast

The Musical Bunch – Name a novel where music played a big part or made you want to sing its praises

Lilah, Reagan’s best friend is a musician and Reagen accompanies her on a tour. She then goes on to fall in love with the opening act, Matt Finch, so yeah, I would say that music does play a big part in the novel.

Maximus from Tangled

The obstacle in Flynn Rider’s way – Name a character that faces a lot of obstacles

Harry Potter. So let us start counting, Draco Malfoy, Professor Quirrell, Dolores Umbridge, all death eater, etc.

Hamish, Hubert, & Harris from Brave

Favourite family dynamics in a novel

Feyre’s family in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. It is a messed up family, but a good one.

Ray from The Princess and the Frog / 3 Fairies from Sleeping Beauty

The Advice Givers – Book that most impacted your life

How to be a bawse by Lilly Singh. I simply loved her advice and it helped me a lot.

Hei Hei from Moana

Name a character that steals the show

Aelin from The Throne of Glass. She definitely has to be the centre of attention all the time. She needs to be the one everyone is listening to, but then she is the Queen.

Gus & Jaq from Cinderella

Opposites Attract – Name your favourite or worst opposite attracts pairing

Lara Jean and Peter? They are quite different and I just love them. Peter is loud and popular, Lara Jean is shy and quite faded into the background until she starts dating Peter.

My nominations for the tag are(It is an old one, so if you haven’t done it yet):

And that is it. Hope you liked it. Tell me what books/characters you would choose in the comments below.

Anyways, what did you all think of my post? Tell me in the comments below. Will be waiting to hear from you all, it means a lot to me.

A Court of Frost and Starlight

The novella accompanying the A Court of Thorns and Roses series just came out, so of course I had to read it! Welcome to my post about me fingerling about how much I liked it.

RATING: 5 STARS(Do you even have to ask?)

Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve.

Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated–scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.

Let me just begin by telling you how much I loved this book.

The novella captures Feyre and Rhysand’s romance perfectly. they deserve the happy ending after all the loss in the war and all they gave up for it. They deserve all of the happiness of the world, the High Lord and the High Lady of the Night Court.

And when Feyre decides to get the night court insignia tattooed on her palms, I literally died. The two are perfect for each other. They deserve each other, the best.

I hated the way Nesta behaved. How self righteous she was, as if Feyre had done nothing for her, nor had Elain. She blamed Feyre for being Made, but Feyre’s only mistake was that they were family. I hated how she thought she could get away with anything and that Feyre was entitled to pay her rent. She was never grateful and I am sorry but despite all she had done, it was wrong and uncalled for. I do to like Nesta any longer.

My love for Elain, on the other hand, grew. Elain though quiet lived at the town house and tended to the garden and tried to fit in. She tried everything for her sister.

Tamlin’s condition was pitiful too. I hated how he was drowning himself in misery and not trying to move on. He was the High Lord of the Spring Court, so he should man up and act like it.

That is it. I loved the book to bits and cannot wait for the next one in the series. This novella was surely something, I cannot begin to imagine what will happen next.

Anyways, what did you all think of my post? Have you read this book? Did you all like it? Tell me in the comments below. Will be waiting to hear from you all, it means a lot to me.
